Amanda Barker is an award winning actor, director, writer and producer. With a degree in English and Drama from New Brunswick’s Mount Allison University, Amanda travelled the globe before landing in Toronto to become MLB’s only female mascot “Diamond” for the Toronto Blue Jays. An award winning actor, writer, radio host and podcaster, Amanda Barker is well known to horror fans as Lizzie in Eli Roth’s Thanksgiving (Sony Pictures) and as Heather in Roth’s upcoming Ice Cream Man (The Horror Section). She will be back for her Hallmark fans as the scattered but brilliant Cecilia Sands in True Justice 2: Eye for an Eye. and is well known to Canadian audiences for her role in CBC's breakthrough menopause comedy Small Achievable Goals. Along with her husband, Marco Timpano, she hosts the popular The Insomnia Project podcast with over 7 million downloads (featured on the ACAST network).
Recent film roles also include Doin It! with Lilly Singh and Ana Gasteyer and Rachel Morrison's and Barry Jenkins' The Fire Inside (MGM). She will is co-host of the popular podcast The Insomnia Project (Acast). A Second City Alumnae in Toronto and Chicago, Amanda has performed in theatres across The United States and Canada from off Broadway to the Just For Laughs Festival. Her performance in SPANK! A 50 Shades of Grey Parody (Mills Entertainment) earned her 3 Broadway World awards for “Best Actress” in Toronto, Nashville, and Denver. Amanda’s voice is well known to Canadian households; as co-host for 5 years on Sirius XM’s Humble and Fred Morning Show and as a contributor for CBC’s The Current. She has also narrated five audiobooks for ECW press; most recently Crow, a novel set in Cape Breton. As a playwright, she has written plays and musicals that have toured North America including Little Black Dress, Spank Harder!, Release the Stars: The Ballad of Randy and Evi Quaid, and Clotheswap. She is a contributor to Chatelaine, Food and Drink and Toronto Life magazines and co-authored the Christmas Special “Home for the Holidays with Jann Arden” at Massey Hall with Universal Music. Her scripts have been featured in American Theatre Magazine, the Association for Theatre in Higher Learning's Annual Conference, the American Society for Theatre Research Conference and the Canadian Association for Theatre Research Conference. She and her writing partner Dale Boyer are a recipient of several Canada Council and Ontario Arts Council Theatre Creator’s Reserve Grants and were the Artists in Residence for the Festival Players of Prince Edward County. They are currently developing their groundbreaking theatre piece Clotheswap into a feature length film. She currently works with companies around the globe in their coaching, development, and change management training programs and as a Session Director for Canada’s largest commercial casting house where she has helped cast over 2,000 commercials.
